GAF van Baalen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the creative industry, co-owning and serving as Game Director at &ranj since 1999. In addition to this role, GAF van Baalen operates GAF Photography, an independent photography venture established in 2019, focusing on various photographic projects. Involved in the arts community, GAF van Baalen has served as a jury member for the Serious Play Awards since February 2021 and for the Spin Awards from 2016 until March 2024. Contributions to education include advisory roles at Hogeschool Rotterdam and Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, as well as jury responsibilities for the prestigious Drempelprijs at Willem de Kooning Academie in 2011 and 2012. Before co-owning &ranj, GAF van Baalen worked as an independent photographer from 1994 to 1999, specializing in landscape and architecture photography. Educational credentials include a BA in Fine Arts, specializing in animation and photography, obtained from the Willem de Kooning Academy between 1991 and 1995.
