Business Support Lead To The Group Financial Controller And Senior Finance Management Team at Serco

Jo Alexander has a diverse work experience in event management and business support roles. Jo started their career as a Fitness Instructor and Gym Manager at LivingWell Health Clubs. From there, they worked as a Health and Fitness Coordinator at the Imperial College Sports Centre. Jo then transitioned into the events industry, working as a Voluntary Fundraising Event Admin at The Arthritis Foundation and as a Fundraising Advisor for the Commit to Get Fit Campaign at Muscular Dystrophy Group/Fitness Industry Association.

Jo went on to become an Events Manager at the Fitness Industry Association, where they developed and coordinated educational programs and corporate entertaining events. Jo then started their own event management company, Full Circle Events Ltd, offering services to various clients and organizing conventions and conferences.

Jo later worked as a Marketing Executive at The Leisure Corporation, where they organized marketing and PR plans for sports and fitness companies. Jo also worked as an Events Manager at the Australian Fitness Network, overseeing events and their management. Jo then joined Promote PR as an Events/Account Manager, managing events and associated PR for various clients.

Jo's most recent role was as a Business Support Lead to the Group Financial Controller and Senior Finance Management Team at Serco. Prior to that, they held the position of Events Manager at Serco Events, where they managed multiple events, supervised a team, coordinated VIP events, and developed new systems.

Throughout their career, Jo has gained extensive experience in event management, budgeting, coordinating, and team supervision. Jo has also achieved the CMI Award at Level 3 in First Line Management.

Jo Alexander has a varied education history. In 1992, they obtained an HND in Science and Management of Health and Fitness from Farnborough College of Technology. In 2010, they received a CMI Award at Level 3, Introduction to First Line Management from CMI in Milton Keynes. They also have additional certifications, including a Level 3 Business Administrator certificate from City & Guilds obtained in 2022, and various qualifications in project management, finance, and executive assistance obtained between 2014 and 2017.
