Hamish Prout has a varied work experience spanning several companies. Hamish began their career at Hall Chadwick Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers as an Assistant Manager from 1993 to 1998. Hamish then worked at Serco - a world of experience, holding various roles including Group Reporting Manager, Group Finance Manager, and Group Financial Controller from 2000 to 2007. In 1998, they also held roles as Group Accountant, Bid Accountant, and Contract Accountant. Hamish later joined DMS Maritime Pty Limited as a Finance and Commercial Lead in 2008. Prout then returned to Serco, where they took on positions as Commercial Manager from 2009 to 2010, Finance and Commercial Director from 2010 to 2011, Head of Finance (Group Financial Controller) from 2011 to 2013, Head of Financial Planning Analysis from 2013 to 2014, and Finance Director, Projects from 2014 to 2019. Currently, they hold the position of Finance Director, Defence and Projects at Serco since August 2019.

Hamish Prout's education history includes attending Brisbane Grammar School from 1985 to 1989. Hamish then went on to study Accountancy at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 1991 to 1993, earning a BBUS degree.
