Md B Badsha, PhD

Lead Bioinformatics Scientist at Sera Prognostics

Md B Badsha, PhD has a strong background in bioinformatics and has worked in various research and analytical roles. Md B started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Kyushu Institute of Technology, where they developed bioinformatics techniques for the visualization and interpretation of large-scale biological/genome-scale data. Md B focused on metabolic analysis of antibody-producing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell cultures.

After their time in Japan, Dr. Badsha joined the University of Idaho as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they developed statistical models and machine learning algorithms for analyzing human genomics data. Md B'swork involved constructing causal regulatory networks using genetic variation and integrating high-throughput biological data like gene expression and genotyping data.

Dr. Badsha then transitioned to a role as a Lead Bioinformatics Analyst at Sera Prognostics, a health diagnostics company focused on precision pregnancy care. Here, they developed predictive models for pregnancy complications such as premature birth, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes using proteomics data.

Following their work at Sera Prognostics, Dr. Badsha joined St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a Bioinformatics Research Scientist. In this role, they focused on the association of genetic variations with clinical or phenotypic traits in humans. Md B also established new bioinformatic and statistical pipelines to enhance research practices within the institution.

Most recently, Dr. Badsha returned to Sera Prognostics as a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist. Md B'scurrent work involves establishing the Pregnancy Proteome Database and utilizing pregnancy proteomics data to find low-risk predictors, develop an advanced molecular clock, and identify pathways of dysfunction and complication predictors.

Dr. Badsha's diverse experience in bioinformatics, genomics, and pregnancy care demonstrates their expertise in the field and their ability to apply statistical and computational techniques to solve complex problems.

Md B Badsha, PhD received their Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Md B then pursued their Master of Science degree in Statistics at the same university from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Badsha later attended the Kyushu Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2015 and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Engineering, specializing in Bioinformatics with a focus on Metabolomics.
