Alberto Chiusole

Devops Engineer at Seqera Labs

Alberto Chiusole has extensive work experience in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC) and DevOps. Alberto started their career as an Intern at File & Disk Operations in the IT department at CERN in 2018, where they gained experience in benchmarking HPC applications and assessing the usage of CephFS as a distributed file system for HPC.

In 2019, Alberto continued their internship at CERN in the same role, focusing on HPC and presenting their findings at HPC IODC 2019. This project later became their Master's Degree thesis.

From 2017 to 2020, Alberto worked at eXact lab as an HPC SysAdmin and Scientific Software Developer. In this role, they were responsible for setting up and administering HPC clusters, providing user support, and implementing High Availability setups. Alberto also gained experience in DevOps using tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker/Podman, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Kibaan, SaltStack, and Ansible. Alberto also contributed to scientific software development using Python, C, C++, CUDA, and Bash.

Following their time at eXact lab, Alberto joined the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) in 2020 as a Storage and I/O Software Engineer. Alberto initially held the role of Computer Systems Engineer II until August 2022, and then transitioned to the role of Computer Systems Engineer III until November 2022.

Currently, Alberto is working at Seqera Labs as an HPC DevOps Engineer, starting in January 2023.

Alberto Chiusole completed their Bachelor's degree in Information and Business Organization Engineering at the Università di Trento from 2014 to 2017. In 2016, they participated in an exchange program as an Erasmus+ student at DTU - Technical University of Denmark.

Afterwards, they pursued a Master's degree in Data Science and Scientific Computing at the Università degli Studi di Trieste from 2017 to 2019.

Additionally, Alberto obtained certifications including "Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python)" from the University of Michigan through Coursera Course Certificates in 2014. Alberto also acquired the "First Certificate in English" from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations in April 2013.
