James Craven has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. James started their career as an Engineer at Hanover displays in 2004 and worked there until 2006. In 2006, they joined Sepura and held various positions throughout their tenure. James began as a Software Engineer and then moved up to Senior Software Engineer. In 2015, they became a Principal Software Engineer and currently holds the position of Software Team Leader since December 2022.

James Craven attended the University of Reading from 1999 to 2002, where they earned a BEng degree in Electronic Engineering. Their main field of study was engineering.
