John Iles has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. John is currently working as a Software Engineer at SEP, starting from August 2022. Previously, from 2016 to 2022, they owned and operated a small business restaurant and board game library called Merlin's Beard LLC in Lafayette, IN.

In 2018 to 2022, John worked as a Math Teacher at Community Schools of Frankfort. Before that, from 2013 to 2016, they taught math at Logansport Community School Corporation, where they innovated a geometry curriculum incorporating digital technologies.

John's earlier work experience includes being a Math and Computer Science Teacher at Tippecanoe School Corporation from 2007 to 2013. During this time, they also served as an Assistant Swimming Coach and a FIRST Robotics Team Coordinator at William Henry Harrison High School.

Prior to that, from 2002 to 2007, John taught Math and Computer Programming at Portage Township Schools, where they also coached track and field.

John Iles holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Ball State University, which they earned between 1997 and 2001. Following this, they pursued a secondary education licensure in Mathematics at Purdue University Northwest from 2002 to 2006. In 2010, John Iles attended Full Sail University, where they completed a Master of Science degree in Educational Media Design and Technology.
