Aaron Van Hooser has over 13 years of experience in the field of Computational Biology and Data Science. Aaron began their career in 2009 as a Scientist II at Selventa, where they were promoted to Senior Scientist and then Principal Scientist. In 2016, they joined PerkinElmer, Inc. as a Staff Scientist in Biostatistics, where they explored the complex relationship between tumor cells and the immune system. In 2017, they became Director of Computational Biology and Principal Scientist at PatientsLikeMe, where they developed computational methods to compare an individual's molecular profile to a broad spectrum of disease-associated profiles. In 2019, they joined Korro Bio, Inc. as the Director of Computational Biology and Data Science, where they established methods and approaches for the study of gene editing. Currently, they are the Senior Director, Head of Computational Biology at Sensorium Therapeutics, where they are building a proprietary product platform to support the development of first-in-class therapeutics.
Aaron Van Hooser has a varied educational background. Aaron began their studies in 1996 at the University of Nevada, Reno, where they received a B.A. in English Literature and a B.S. in Biology Major with a Chemistry Minor. In 2001, they earned their Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine. Finally, in 2004, they were a Miller Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley for Cell and Molecular Biology.
