Wende Frost has a diverse work experience in the field of natural language processing and cognitive architectures. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Systems Programmer at Arizona State University's Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Cognitive Adaptive Systems, where they designed and implemented natural language processing abilities using conceptual inference for parsing and modeling understanding. They also integrated cognitive architectures for successful cross architecture experiments. From 2009 to 2016, they worked as a Computational Research Linguist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, leading a team in the development of government-funded software applications in areas such as accent recognition, decision-making with multi-modal input, and language integration on firefighting robots. Since 2016, Wende has been a Senior Knowledge Engineer at Artificial Solutions, where they design, build, and test customized virtual assistants across various domains. They use a combination of core NLP tools and machine learning models to create virtual assistants with interactive dialogues and predictive responses. In 2018, they also worked as an NLP Engineer at Sensentia.
Wende Frost began their education in 1997 when they enrolled at Northern Arizona University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a focus on Computer Information Systems. They completed this degree in 2003. Later, they attended Arizona State University, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics in 2007. From 2007 to 2010, Wende Frost continued their studies at Arizona State University, completing a Master of Computer Science degree with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Finally, from 2010 to 2013, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computational Linguistics at Arizona State University, concluding their formal education.
