Rita Chen

Director, Global Outreach at Seneca Polytechnic

Rita Chen has several years of work experience in various roles related to international business development, recruitment, admissions, and partner relations. Rita is currently the Director of Global Outreach at Seneca Polytechnic. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Manager of International Business Development at the same organization. Before joining Seneca Polytechnic, Rita worked at McMaster University as the Manager of Recruitment and Admissions for four years. Rita also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at McMaster University for leadership fundamentals and negotiation courses. Earlier in their career, Rita was employed by IDP Education Ltd, where they held the roles of Manager of Partner Relations and Manager of Operations Support. Rita started their career at Sprachcaffe/GEOS Languages Plus as the Coordinator of Regional Marketing for North America, and later assumed the position of Assistant Teacher Trainer and English Language Teacher. In their role at Sprachcaffe/GEOS, Rita was responsible for overseeing relationships between offices, schools, and global partners, managing marketing initiatives, and serving as a spokesperson for the North Asian region during crisis situations. Rita'sefforts resulted in increased student enrollments and the maintenance of partnerships.

Rita Chen, MCM, received their Master's Degree in Communications Management from McMaster University in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained their Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from the University of Toronto in 2004. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained several certifications including Communications Management Professional (CMP) from the Global Communication Certification Council in 2020, and a Certificate of Educational Studies in TESOL from Coventry House International - OnTESOL in 2010. Rita also holds certifications in online security awareness, design thinking, and mental health first aid. Furthermore, they have achieved the N2 - Level 2 Japanese Proficiency certification from the JLPT Japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2006.
