Aleksey Afonin has a diverse work experience. Aleksey is currently working as a Backend Developer at Semrush since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Python Developer at Selectel from September 2019 to March 2021. Before that, they held the same position at BARS GROUP from December 2015 to September 2019. Aleksey's early work experience includes a role as a Programmer at Lesta Studio (Wargaming Saint Petersburg) from January 2012 to September 2015.

Aleksey Afonin began their education in 2005 at OGOUSPO "Naryan-Mar Social-Humanitarian College named after I.P. Vyucheyskogo," where they pursued a degree as a Senior Technician in Computer software and automated systems. Aleksey attended this college until 2009. After completing their time at the college, from 2009 to 2012, Aleksey attended ITMO University and focused on Information Technology, although it is unclear if they obtained a degree from this institution. In 2014, they obtained a certification in Molecular biology and genetics from Stepic.org.
