Yuwei Li currently serves as the Transportation Asset Planning Manager at Selwyn District Council since April 2023. Prior to this role, Yuwei held the position of Asset Manager for North Canterbury NOC at Downer New Zealand from February 2022 to April 2023. Yuwei has an extensive academic background, having worked as a Lecturer at Ara Institute of Canterbury from 2017 to February 2022 and as a Professor at Shanghai Maritime University from 2012 to 2017. Experience also includes serving as Deputy Director at the Center for Future Urban Transport, UC Berkeley (2006-2011) and as a Research Engineer at Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH), UC Berkeley (2004-2007). Earlier career experience includes a role as a Marketing Research Analyst at C. H. Robinson Worldwide from 1997 to 1998. Yuwei Li holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an MS and MA in Urban and Regional Planning and Economics from the University of Iowa, and a BS in Physics from Peking University.
