Nils Trygve Stava has a comprehensive work experience in the drilling and well industry. Nils Trygve began their career as a Warehouse Associate at Halliburton in 2007 before moving on to work as a Drilling engineer trainee at Odfjell Drilling in 2008. At Odfjell Drilling, they gained hands-on experience in both offshore and land-based operations, including operational planning and managing equipment and personnel.
In 2011, Stava joined Archer - the well company, where they held various roles, including Roughneck, Derrickman, and Assistant Driller. These positions involved organizing and conducting drilling operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Nils Trygve also played a role in training and developing drill crew competence.
Stava then worked as an Instructor and Material Developer at Maersk Training from 2014 to 2016. In this role, they delivered courses on well control, drilling technology, managed pressure drilling, and high-pressure, high-temperature drilling. Nils Trygve was also responsible for developing instructional materials and assessments.
In 2016, Stava co-founded Mims Well, a company focused on optimizing well planning and operational processes. As Partner and CTO, they developed business plans, strategies, and product vision while seeking partnerships, customers, and investors. Nils Trygve also applied for public support from various organizations to fund the company's methodology development.
From 2017 to 2018, Stava worked as a Consultant IWCF Instructor at the Drilling And Wells Academy, where they delivered courses on well control and developed training materials.
Currently, Stava is employed at Sekal AS, initially as a Drilling Analyst from 2018 to 2019. Nils Trygve then progressed to the role of Training Manager from 2019 to 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Training & QA Manager. Their responsibilities include overseeing training programs and quality assurance procedures.
