Sheilla Otieno

Senior Program Manager, Africa at Seedstars

Sheilla Otieno has a diverse work experience in the fields of investment management, program coordination, and finance. Starting in 2017, they worked as a Finance Intern at Maseno University for a period of one year. In 2019, they served as an ICT Supervisor at the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. Later that year, Sheilla joined Cytonn Investments as an Investment Intern, where they gained experience in the investment industry. In 2020, they took on the role of Program Coordinator at BAYI Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting small businesses and promoting sustainable growth in underserved communities. In the same year, they also worked as an Investment Analyst at BAYI Capital Management, specializing in African emerging markets. Currently, Sheilla is working at Seedstars as a Program Manager & Investment Analyst. Seedstars is a global organization aiming to impact people's lives in emerging markets through technology and entrepreneurship. At Seedstars, Sheilla is involved in a grant program that supports young companies planning to scale up in developing or emerging countries.

Sheilla Otieno's education history is as follows:

Sheilla obtained their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from Limuru Girls School in the years 2009 to 2012. Following that, they attended Maseno University from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science. During this time, they also completed a certification in International Computer Driving License (ICDL) in Computer Studies, awarded in 2013.

Sheilla then pursued further education at Maseno University from 2018 to 2021, obtaining a Master's degree in Actuarial Science.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Sheilla Otieno has acquired various certifications from LinkedIn. These include "Become a Financial Analyst," "Corporate Financial Statement Analysis," "Excel: Economic Analysis and Data Analytics," "Excel: Tracking Data Easily and Efficiently," "Financial Modeling and Forecasting Financial Statements," "Managerial Economics," "Running a Profitable Business: Understanding Financial Ratios," "Excel: Analyzing and Visualizing Cash Flows," "Financial Accounting Foundations," "Financial Modeling Foundations," and "Strategic Planning Foundations."
