J. Alejandro Kawabata has extensive experience in legal and institutional affairs, currently serving as the Director de Asuntos Jurídicos e Institucionales at the Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB) since 2006, where responsibilities include providing direct legal advice to the Secretary General and overseeing the Strategic Direction Committee of Ibero-American Organizations. Prior roles include Director of the Department of Planning and Public Policies and Director of the Center for Human Rights at the Universidad Nacional de Lanús in Argentina, as well as International Advisor on Human Rights for the United Nations in Guatemala. Furthermore, J. Alejandro Kawabata served as Coordinator of the Legal Area at the Subsecretaría de Derechos Humanos in Argentina, collaborating on significant human rights cases during a critical period in the country’s history. J. Alejandro Kawabata holds a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires.
