Basim Shami has extensive work experience in the beauty industry. In 1992, they became the owner of Pet Silk, Inc., a company specializing in pet grooming products. In 2003, they joined Beauty Elite Group as the president and CEO. In 2016, they co-founded Blowpro, a hair care brand. Most recently, in 2018, they became the owner of Scruples Professional Salon Products.

Basim Shami completed a Masters degree in Marketing and Human Resource Management from Houston Christian University between the years 2000 and 2004. Prior to that, they obtained a Masters of Science degree in Marketing and HRM from The University of Findlay from 1998 to 2000.
