Jason Gurney has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Jason is currently the Head of Engineering at Scope Zero since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Zillow where they held various roles including Vice President of Engineering, Senior Director of Product Development, Director of Product Development, Senior Development Manager, and Senior Software Development Engineer between 2011 and 2022.

Before Zillow, Jason worked at Cozi Group, Inc. as the Social Projects Engineering Lead, where they developed the initial framework and calendar section of the Cozi Android application, and launched a baby names resource site in Python/Django from 2010 to 2011.

Jason also founded BallHype Inc., where they built the BallHype content aggregation platform and the ballhype.com and showhype.com websites, reaching a combined 3 million monthly unique users. Jason worked at BallHype from 2007 to 2010 before it was acquired by Future US.

Prior to that, Jason was the Vice President of Engineering at Biz360, Inc. where they led functional teams and launched blog-monitoring products, enabling a 4x jump in processing scale. Jason also established agile software development methodologies. Jason worked at Biz360 from 2003 to 2007.

Before joining Biz360, Jason worked at Determine Software as the Software Development Director and Web Development Manager. Jason led the development of web applications and managed the web development team. Jason worked at Determine Software from 2000 to 2003.

Jason began their career at Zing Networks as the Director of Server Engineering and Product Manager. Jason managed development teams, launched new features, and co-brand sites, including Japanese versions of Sony's ImageStation. Jason worked at Zing Networks from 1999 to 2000.

Jason started their career as an Editorial Producer at NBA.com (Starwave) and also founded The Java Boutique, an early Java resource site. Jason sold The Java Boutique to Internet.

Jason Gurney completed an MBA in IT and Marketing from the University of Washington from 1995 to 1997. Prior to that, they obtained a BS in Business Management from Brigham Young University from 1988 to 1990.
