Jurre Steens has been involved in a variety of roles since 2017. In 2017, they were involved with iGEM Wageningen 2017 as a Funding & Product Research and Development. In 2018, they completed a Research Internship at University of Otago. In 2019, they began a PhD Candidate role at Wageningen University & Research and also founded Scope Biosciences B.V., where they serve as both the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientific Officer.

Jurre Steens completed a Gymnasium, Voortgezet Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs in Nature & Health from 2007 to 2013 at Stedelijk Gymnasium Johan van Oldenbarnevelt. Jurre then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biotechnology from 2013 to 2016 at Wageningen University & Research. Finally, they completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology with a specialization in Medical Biotechnology from 2016 to 2018 at Wageningen University & Research.
