Sean Rife has been working in the field of psychology since 2002. Sean began as the sole proprietor of Rife IT Services, then in 2006 they became the Lab Coordinator at Social Issues and Relationships Lab. In 2011, they became a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Kent State University. From 2014 to 2018, they were employed at Murray State University as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and then an Associate Professor of Psychology. In 2017, they became the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Verum Analytics, LLC and in 2018 they became the Co-founder and Chief Research Officer at scite.

Sean Rife has obtained four degrees throughout their educational career. Sean received a PhD in Social/Experimental Psychology from Kent State University in 2012, an MA in Sociology from East Tennessee State University in 2009, an MA in Psychology from East Tennessee State University in 2008, and a BS in Psychology from the University of North Georgia in 2005. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications, a Computing for Data Analysis certificate from Coursera / Johns Hopkins University in November 2013 and a Computing for Data Analysis certificate from Coursera.
