Kara Zappitelli is an experienced professional in the field of engineering and research, currently serving as Foundry Director & Lead Engineer at Science since September 2021. Prior work experience includes roles as Lead Engineer and Engineer at the same company. From September 2014 to October 2021, Kara was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Neural Engineering at the University of Oregon, focusing on 2-photon lithography for complex three-dimensional stimulation and recording electrodes under the guidance of Tim Gardner. Additionally, Kara conducted graduate research on high surface area electrodes for neurostimulation of the retina as a Graduate Research Fellow in Physics, working with PI Benjamín Alemán, and served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in Physics. Kara earned a PhD in Physics from the University of Oregon in 2020 and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2013.
