Emily Petersen is an accomplished photography editor and filmmaker with extensive experience in the visual media field. Currently serving as the Managing Photography Editor at Science Magazine since January 2015, Emily leads a team to produce innovative multimedia content and assigns freelance photographers for significant editorial projects. Emily's prior roles include Senior Photo Editor, managing online photo content, and Digital Photo Editor, alongside various filmmaking and research positions at Maryland Public Television and American University. Emily holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science, Film & Photography from American University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech, complementing a career focused on combining scientific research with visual storytelling.
