Matthew Gomez-Mesquita serves as the Senior Parks Program Manager at Save the Redwoods League since June 2022. Previously, Matthew held the position of Licensing and Land Use Specialist at the Forest Preserve District of Cook County from December 2019 to May 2022, leading various land use projects and chairing key committees. Prior experience includes Trail Advocacy Manager at Active Transportation Alliance, overseeing grassroots advocacy for trail connectivity, and Land Use Planner II at Foley & Lardner LLP, where Matthew secured zoning approvals for significant developments. Additional roles include project management at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and community planning at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, as well as internships focused on urban design and architectural practices. Matthew holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan.
