Jim MacKinnon began their work experience in 1991 at MA Mortenson Company, where they served as an Estimator until 1996. In 1996, they joined Saunders Construction as the Chief Estimator, where they continue to hold this position.

Jim MacKinnon attended Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, MA from 1983 to 1987. Following high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management at Colorado State University from 1987 to 1991.
