Drew Lajaunie has a strong background in construction project management. Drew began their career as a Project Manager at Gibbs Construction, LLC in October 2000, where they stayed until April 2011. Drew then started their own construction company, KARES Construction LLC, in October 2005, specializing in residential renovations. Drew'scompany was well-regarded for its quality work, which was primarily driven by word-of-mouth referrals. In March 2013, Drew joined Satterfield & Pontikes Construction as a Project Manager, overseeing a multi-million dollar construction project. Drew'sresponsibilities included subcontracting, budget maintenance, scheduling, personnel management, change order management, and interaction with owners, architects, and engineers.

Drew Lajaunie completed their high school education at Holy Cross High School in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1974 to 1978. Drew obtained their HS Diploma with a focus on College Prep. Following that, they attended Louisiana State University from 1978 to 1983, majoring in Marketing but did not obtain a degree. In 2014, they obtained a certification in Quality Construction Management (QCM) from the Corps of Engineers (COE).
