Kirsty MacKay has extensive experience in nature interpretation, habitat restoration, and education. Since 2013, Kirsty has served as a docent at the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority, leading hikes in various preserves and fostering visitor engagement with nature. Additionally, Kirsty is the Lead Volunteer for the Ulistac Natural Area Restoration and Education Project, overseeing volunteer teams in native habitat restoration efforts. With a background in creative writing and copyediting as an independent contractor since 1999, Kirsty shares poetry and provides literary critique to fellow writers. Kirsty has also taught public speaking and communications at Western Career College and served as a student mentor at Hosford Middle School, promoting college awareness among youth. Kirsty holds a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Women's Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
