Dan Engel is the Managing Partner and Founder of Santa Barbara Venture Partners, a mid-stage venture capital firm focused on customer acquisition and marketing for its portfolio companies since August 2020. Engel holds investments in several high-profile companies, including Jackpocket, which is set to be acquired by DraftKings for $750 million, and Umbra, known for producing the highest-resolution commercial satellite image to date. As a seed investor in Apeel, Engel contributed to a company valued at over $2 billion for its food waste prevention technology, while also investing in SafeGraph, Bark, and Repurpose, Inc. for their innovations in data, online safety, and eco-friendly products, respectively. Additionally, Engel serves as a Limited Partner at Lead Edge Capital and has advised SupportYourApp since November 2013, helping it scale to over 1,500 employees. Engel's previous role as a Venture Capitalist-in-Residence at OCV involved working with a $261 million fund focused on software and life sciences. Dan Engel holds a degree in Finance from Tulane University.
