Melissa Fondakowski is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in grants management, nonprofit consulting, and development. Currently serving as Senior Grants and Communication Coordinator at San Francisco Environment Department since July 2023, Melissa previously operated as a consultant for 14 years, offering advisory and strategic services to numerous organizations. Notable roles include Director of Redford Center Grants, where over $1 million in grants were distributed to marginalized filmmakers, and various development positions at the Oakland Zoo and Global Footprint Network. Melissa's education includes an MA in Psychiatry and Religion from Union Theological Seminary, an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College, and a BA in English Literature from Adelphi University.
