Nicholas Duffield has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Nicholas started their career as a Substitute Special Education Assistant at the San Diego Unified School District, where they facilitated the integration of neurodivergent and students with behavioral issues into regular education classes.
Nicholas then worked as an Educator at the Living Coast Discovery Center, followed by a role as an Administrative Assistant at New Alternatives For Children, where they managed various administrative tasks and trained new staff members.
In 2011, Nicholas joined the American Red Cross as a Senior Specialist Case Worker for Services to the Armed Forces, providing emergency communication and financial services to military service members and their families. Nicholas also led a team and established a database to improve efficiency.
Subsequently, Nicholas worked at Birch Aquarium at Scripps as an Instructor, teaching K-12 school groups and developing on-the-floor programming. Nicholas then joined the San Diego Natural History Museum, where they held various positions, including Museum Educator, Program Coordinator/Educator, and currently, Lead Educator and Curriculum Developer. In these roles, they developed STEAM and NGSS-aligned curriculum, facilitated hands-on classes, and produced community programs.
Overall, Nicholas has demonstrated expertise in education, program coordination, curriculum development, and administrative support throughout their career.
Nicholas Duffield holds a Bachelor's Degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UC San Diego.
