Troy Thompson has over 20 years of experience in the field of network engineering and infrastructure operations. Troy currently serves as the Director of Infrastructure Operations at Salt Lake Community College, where they manage a team of network engineers and oversees the administration and maintenance of the college's network, serving over 60,000 students. Prior to this, Troy worked as a Senior Network Engineer at NICE inContact, troubleshooting connectivity issues and implementing solutions for global call centers and office environments. Troy also held the role of Infrastructure/Security Engineer at Control4, supporting networks and WAN links across multiple global offices. Troy's experience also includes serving as the Network Operations Manager at Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA), where they managed a fiber optic network for member cities, and as the IT Division Manager at the City of North Las Vegas, responsible for network infrastructure and telecommunications.
Troy Thompson obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in the period from 1985 to 1991. Troy later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix from 1995 to 1997. Prior to their Bachelor's degree, Troy also attended Brigham Young University - Idaho from 1984 to 1985, majoring in Computer Science but did not complete a degree there. Additionally, Troy holds certifications in CISSP (obtained in October 2016 from ISC(2)) and CCNA/CCNP (institution and date of obtaining are not provided).
