Sam Smothermon is an experienced Compliance and Evaluation Specialist at The SAFE Alliance, a position held since September 2021. Previously, Sam worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, focusing on the evaluation of the Bexar County Reentry Center's referral process for clients with substance use disorders from August 2020 to August 2021. Earlier roles include serving as a Sociology Internship Graduate Assistant at Texas State University, where responsibilities involved organizational and administrative support, and as a Policy Associate Intern at the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, where Sam tracked and analyzed bills during the 2019 legislative session. Sam's career began at Textbook Solutions, transitioning from customer service to management over several years. Sam holds a Master’s degree in Applied Sociology and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice, both from Texas State University.
