Bongi Mtlokwa has extensive experience in aviation safety management, currently serving as the Chairperson of the ICAO Safety Management Panel since April 2019 and as an Aviation Safety Coordinator at the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) since October 2008. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of an Aviation State Safety Programme for South Africa, establishing safety hazard reporting mechanisms, and implementing safety assurance activities. Bongi also engages with stakeholders to promote aviation safety and has a strong background in data collection and analysis related to aviation accidents and incidents. Educational qualifications include a Diploma in Safety Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science from the University of South Africa, along with a National Diploma in Marketing.
