Ly Bui manages data breach response workflows. She ensures that any client that has experienced a breach will be able to meet its legal duty to notify any individuals whose Personal Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) was involved in the breach.
Any entity that collects and stores data is susceptible to a data breach. Once a breach occurs, it is vital to take action in order to mitigate harm to any individuals potentially affected. One part of this process is reviewing the data that was subject to the breach in order to identify any such individuals, along with what PII or PHI elements were potentially stolen. Ly specializes in overseeing this data mining process, which can involve large amounts of data and be technologically complex.
Before moving to the field of data breach, Ly spent several years working in e-Discovery, with experience in every step of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). She was heavily involved in managing the collection, processing, review, and production of data for discovery in a variety of practice areas. She has worked on cases small and large, from family disputes to Second Requests.
Ly’s background in both computer engineering and the law make her well-suited to contend with the complexities of her role.
Admitted only in Maryland, practice directly supervised by a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
