Steven K. Libutti, MD, FACS

Steven Libutti is a distinguished medical professional with extensive experience in oncology and surgery. Currently serving as a Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Tenured Professor of Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and as the Director of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Libutti is also the Senior Vice President of Oncology Services at RWJBarnabas Health and Vice Chancellor of Cancer Programs for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. An accomplished editor, Libutti holds the position of Editor-In-Chief Emeritus for Cancer Gene Therapy, contributing to advancements in gene and cellular therapies for cancer. Previously, positions included Director of the Cancer Center at Montefiore Health System and Professor of Surgery and Genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Notably, Libutti served as a Staff Surgeon at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was a Captain in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, with a tenure at the National Cancer Institute as Section Chief. Educational credentials include an MD from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and an AB in Biology from Harvard University.
