Jose Martinez-Diaz has an extensive work experience in various roles and organizations.
Jose began their career as a Marketing Manager at Nestle de Mexico from March 2005 to June 2007. Jose then served as the Latino Community Outreach Manager at Alamance-Burlington School System from August 2007 to August 2009.
In 2009, they pursued a Master's degree in International Development focusing on the use of digital technology for collective action at American University. During this time, they also worked as a Research Associate at Global Integrity from October 2010 to February 2011.
From July 2011 to June 2012, Jose worked as a Campaign Manager at SEIU, where they were responsible for social and racial justice campaigns, voter registration efforts, online fundraising, and managing relationships with partners and vendors. Jose then became the Deputy Director of the New Media Department at SEIU from June 2012 to August 2014, overseeing campaign managers and department staff, managing email programs, and leading strategic communications planning.
After their tenure at SEIU, Jose joined Americans for Tax Fairness as a Digital Director from October 2014 to November 2015. In this role, they oversaw and executed digital communications strategy, managed the organization's website, social media platforms, and email list of activists, and focused on online fundraising and securing partnerships.
Jose Martinez-Diaz joined Bernie 2016 as a Senior Digital Advisor from November 2015 to June 2016. Jose played a crucial role in strategic digital communications for campaign constituency groups, managed GOTV and state delegate email programs, and oversaw digital infrastructure and outreach strategy for campaign rallies and large events.
From August 2016 to December 2018, Jose worked as the Campaigns Director at Purpose PBC. Jose was involved in strategic communications and digital strategy for global climate change initiatives and worked on a national campaign to raise awareness about unpredictable scheduling for shift workers.
In March 2019, Jose joined Greenpeace USA as the Engagement Integration Director until February 2020. Jose then became the Engagement Director, responsible for overseeing the Digital and Organizing departments, managing digital fundraising and acquisition budgets and teams, and launching political advocacy and distributed organizing campaigns.
Currently, Jose serves as the VP of Leadership Networks at Run for Something starting from January 2023.
Throughout their career, Jose has demonstrated strong leadership skills in digital communications, campaign management, strategic planning, and team management. Their experience spans across various sectors including environmental activism, progressive advocacy, and social justice campaigns.
Jose Martinez-Diaz began their education in 1997 at Universidad de las Américas, A.C., where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Jose completed their studies in 2003.
In 2009, Jose enrolled at American University to further their education in the field of Development Economics and International Development. Jose obtained a Master of Arts degree in this area in 2011.
