Trent R. Hein is the co-founder and co-CEO of Rule4, a cybersecurity company based in Denver, Colorado. Trent also served as the CEO and co-founder of AppliedTrust, a cybersecurity company that was acquired by NTT in 2017. Prior to that, they were the CTO of XOR Inc, a software company based in Boulder, Colorado.

Trent R. Hein has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as a BS in the same field from the same school. Trent is also certified by the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), (ISC)² as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), the Information Assurance Certification Review Board (IACRB) as a Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA), Cisco as a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), (ISC)² as an Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP), and (ISC)² as an Information Systems Security Management Professional (ISSMP). Lastly, they are certified by the PCI Security Standards Council as a Payment Card Industry Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).
