Kevin Bakhurst currently serves as the Director General of RTE since July 2023. Prior experience includes a role as Group Director of Broadcasting at Ofcom from October 2016 to July 2023, and various positions at RTÉ from September 2012 to October 2016, including Deputy Director-General and Managing Director of News and Current Affairs. Kevin Bakhurst also held multiple roles at BBC News between 2003 and 2012, culminating in the position of Controller of the BBC News Channel. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge, obtained from 1985 to 1988, and attendance at Haberdashers' Aske's School, Elstree from 1977 to 1984.
