Alastair Shaw has a diverse work experience in education and assessment. Alastair is currently serving as the Head of Assessment at The Royal College of Surgeons of England since November 2021. Prior to this, they held the same position at the College of Optometrists since July 2018 until November 2021. During their tenure, they were responsible for the design, quality assurance, and delivery of assessment programs, as well as managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring the support of appropriate systems and processes. Before that, Alastair worked as the Head of French at The Perse School, Cambridge from September 2016 to August 2018, and as a Teacher of French and teacher development mentor at Trinity School of John Whitgift from September 2010 to August 2016.
Alastair Shaw pursued their education at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2009, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Modern and Medieval Languages. Following this, from 2013 to 2014, they attended the University of Buckingham and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in secondary education.
