Nida Ghori has extensive work experience in the field of agricultural research. Nida is currently working as a Deputy Lead at Rothamsted Research, where they are involved in a project focused on crop transition experiments. This project involves collaboration with 30 researchers from different agricultural backgrounds and aims to understand the complex ecosystem dynamics during crop transitions.
Prior to their current role, Nida Ghori served as the Take-All Wheat Team Lead (Research Scientist) at Rothamsted Research. In this position, they were part of two major projects funded by UK BBSRC and UKRI, focused on wheat genetics, genomics, and fungal interactions. The projects aimed to develop sustainable wheat cultivars with improved yield, key traits, and resistance against biotic and abiotic stresses.
Nida Ghori also has experience as a Lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, where they taught for seven years before joining Rothamsted Research. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS), they gained further research experience.
Before joining USDA, Nida Ghori worked as a Trainer at CABI, where they gained expertise in training programs. Nida also worked as a Research Student at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, where their research focused on developing drought-tolerant wheat lines.
Early in their career, Nida Ghori completed an internship at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, where they gained experience in wheat somaclonal variation studies and the use of SSR markers for identifying genetic variation.
Overall, Nida Ghori's work experience showcases their expertise in agricultural research, with specific focus on wheat genetics, genomics, and crop transitions.
Nida Ghori's education history includes a range of degrees and certificates. Nida completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Wheat Breeding and Genetics from Kansas State University from 2017 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained their MSc (Hons) in Agriculture with a specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, completing this degree from 2012 to 2015. Nida had also completed their BSc (Hons) in Agriculture with a focus on Plant Breeding and Genetics from the same university between 2008 and 2013. Their pre-university education includes a FSc (Pre-Medical) in General Science from Govt. College University for Women Faisalabad, though the specific duration of this program is not provided.
In addition to their degrees, Nida Ghori has acquired a Graduate Certificate in Genetics, Genomics, and Biotechnology from Kansas State University, which they obtained from 2018 to 2020. Nida also holds various certifications, including a Genetics, Genomics, and Biotechnology Graduate Certificate from Kansas State University (obtained in December 2021) and a BGRI Career Development Course for Young Scientists certification from Cornell University (obtained in March 2021).
