Andrew Sweetnam is the Founder of Roots First since November 2023, bringing extensive experience in community development and partnership management. Previously, Andrew served as the Manager of Partnership Development at Community Food Centres Canada from September 2021 to May 2024, where contributions included strategic organizational development and consulting for national partners. As a Community Development Worker at COMPASS COMMUNITY HEALTH from September 2018 to October 2021, leadership in food security programming was established. Andrew also held operations management roles at Paint Nite and Hamilton Victory Gardens, focusing on business growth and volunteer coordination, respectively. Earlier experience includes teaching at Sakolraj School and roles in kinesiology research and rehabilitation at various institutions. Andrew's academic background includes a PhD in Health and Aging from McMaster University and Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology from York University.
