Alison Smith Ph.D.

Alison Smith, Ph.D. has diverse work experience in neurosciences, medical writing, and start-up ventures. Alison is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at Roga, where they are involved in developing a wearable device to reduce anxiety. Alison has also worked at VieLight Inc. as a Neuroscientist and Manager of Performance Science & Research, leading product launches and managing research initiatives. Additionally, Alison has served as a Director of Medical Conversation Development at conversationHEALTH, creating conversational AI platforms for healthcare information. Alison has further experience as a Senior Medical Writer at Smith Medical Writing, specializing in scientific journal articles and white papers. Alison has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo, teaching human anatomy and physiology. Throughout their career, they have been involved in various incubator and fellowship programs, such as the Ontario Brain Institute NERVE Program, Velocity Incubator, Brampton Venture Zone Incubator, and On Deck Start-up Accelerator.

Alison Smith, Ph.D., has a strong educational background in neurophysiology and kinesiology. Alison obtained their Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from the University of Waterloo, where they were an NSERC Postgraduate Scholar. Prior to that, they completed their M.Sc. in Neurophysiology at York University, where they were an Ontario Graduate Scholar (OGS). Alison also holds a B.A. degree from York University in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. In addition to their academic degrees, Alison has also completed the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program at York University.

Furthermore, Alison has obtained a certification in GCP for Clinical Investigations of Devices (ISO: 14155) from the CITI Program in June 2019.
