Jacob Dodunski

Jacob Dodunski has a diverse work experience in the field of game development. Jacob started their career as a Junior Software Developer at Ontempo NZ Ltd, where they worked on their Point of Sale System and performed tasks such as bug fixing, customization, and adding features.

Jacob then worked as a Gameplay Programmer at Warpforged Games, focusing on general gameplay programming using C# and Unity 3D.

After that, Jacob joined Voidworks, a newly formed indie company, where they worked as a Programmer and Designer. Jacob'sresponsibilities included procedural generation, level design, and general programming using C++ and Unreal Engine 4.

Jacob later joined 2ndSum Studios, where they worked as a hybrid role of Programmer and Designer. Jacob was involved in various aspects of game development, including implementing gameplay mechanics, dialogue and quest systems, level design, and UI.

Next, Jacob worked at Grinding Gear Games as a Programmer. Jacob started as a UI programmer but transitioned into a gameplay generalist, working on the implementation of Xbox, PlayStation, and Mobile ports. Jacob'sresponsibilities included creating UI for interaction, item manipulation and inventory management systems, and developing new league mechanics.

Currently, Jacob is working at RocketWerkz as a Project Lead for the Icarus project. Jacob previously held roles as Technical Lead, Principal Programmer (Gameplay), and Vanguard Engineer. In these roles, they contributed to designing, implementing, and balancing gameplay features, mentored other programmers, and was heavily involved in the initial implementation of core systems in the game.

Jacob Dodunski attended the University of Otago from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Neuroscience. In 2011, they then attended the University of Otago again, this time completing a Diploma in Graduate Studies (DipGrad) in Computer Science. In 2012, they attended the University of Auckland and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PG DipSci) in Computer Science. Finally, from 2013 to 2015, Jacob attended the Media Design School, where they completed a Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSE) degree with a focus on Game Programming.
