Elke Glasmacher is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the life sciences sector. Currently serving as the Global Head of Discovery Sciences at Roche since September 2017, Elke has successfully built and led a new global matrix department, fostering collaboration with pharmaceutical companies, academia, and start-ups. Previous roles include Chapter Lead in Biomarker Discovery and Project Lead & Head of Immune and Cell Biology, where Elke spearheaded the development of new departments and platforms in Pharma. From 2013 to 2017, Elke held the position of Principal Investigator at Helmholtz Zentrum München, demonstrating scientific independence and leading multiple projects. Elke began a postdoctoral research career at Genentech, focusing on molecular mechanisms in auto-reactive T cells. Educational background includes a PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, a Diploma of Education in Biology from the University of Cologne, and a diploma thesis from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry.
