Christine A. Clayton

Communications Officer at Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Christine (Chris) Clayton, MSW, is a communications officer whose focus on RWJF internal communications helps all staff better understand their role as ambassadors in building a Culture of Health in America and enhances the Foundation’s brand both internally and externally.

Drawn to the Foundation’s mission to improve health and health care for all, especially the nation’s most vulnerable, she joined RWJF in 2003. She views her work as “an opportunity to work on policies, programs, and communications’ initiatives that help all families and individuals have an opportunity to build a strong foundation for their health.”

Previously, Clayton served as both a communications associate and a communications specialist for the Foundation. In these roles she provided support for Foundation grant programs in New Jersey and those that advance changes in public policy, community environments, and industry practices to ensure all children across the nation have opportunities to achieve a healthy weight. She also assisted with a host of executive communications, including public speaking opportunities.

Prior to RWJF, Clayton held positions as an executive assistant and program coordinator with the YWCA Princeton, an editor with Zatz Publishing, and a public relations coordinator with The Hun School of Princeton.

Clayton received her BA and MSW from Rutgers University and was a 2014 fellow of Lead New Jersey, which educates, empowers and engages leaders to create systemic change around New Jersey's most challenging issues. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

A New Jersey native, Clayton and her husband currently reside in Highland Park. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels, national and domestic travel, and trying out new foods at New Jersey’s cutting-edge restaurants.
