Niels Damhuis has work experience dating back to 2015. Niels started their career as an Assistant Manager at Café-restaurant Amstelhaven from May 2015 to May 2016. Niels then went on to work as an Analyst at ING from January 2017 to January 2018. Niels also worked at Koninklijke Marechaussee as an investigator for their MSc thesis from February 2016 to October 2016. Following that, they worked at BinckBank as a Compliance Officer from September 2018 to August 2020. Currently, Niels is working as a Compliance Officer at Robeco, starting from September 2020.

Niels Damhuis began their education at Twents Carmel College Losser, where they completed their Havo/Vwo studies from 2003 to 2005. Niels then attended Twents Carmel College Lyceumstraat from 2005 to 2009, where they pursued Atheneum with a focus on the Natuur & Gezondheid profile. After completing their secondary education, Niels enrolled at VAVO Lyceum van Twente in 2009 and obtained their Atheneum degree.

Following their secondary education, Niels joined Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in 2010 to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Criminologie. Niels successfully completed their bachelor's program in 2014.

Niels further advanced their education at VU Amsterdam from 2013 to 2014, undertaking a minor in Forensische criminologie. Niels then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Opsporingscriminologie: misdaadprofielen en misdaadbestrijding from VU Amsterdam between 2014 and 2016.

In addition to their formal education, Niels Damhuis has obtained several certifications. In January 2017, they received the certification of Criminologie, Master of Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Niels also obtained the Wft Basis certification from Hoffelijk in the same year. Furthermore, in September 2014, Niels obtained the certification of Criminologie, Bachelor of Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam / VU. The most recent certification acquired by Niels Damhuis is Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) from the Nederlands Compliance Instituut, obtained in January 2020.
