Al McClelland, Jr. has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Al started their career as an Art Department Intern at Clear Channel Outdoor, where they designed advertisements and promotional materials. Al then worked as an Illustrator at Faber-Castell USA before joining the Cleveland Institute of Art as a Lead Animator and Concept Artist for collaborative projects.
In 2010, Al became a 2D Game Artist at Twist Education, LLC., where they contributed to the development of educational games. Al also worked as a Freelance Illustrator/Animator at their own company, Al's 2D Art, during this time.
In 2012, Al became an Art Director and Partner at One and a Half Beards, where they managed art direction for various projects. Al then joined Game Worlds as a Lab Leader, teaching kids how to create their own video games.
In 2014, Al worked as a Shift Leader at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, managing the kitchen and front-of-house operations. Al later joined Rooster Teeth as a Freelance Storyboard Artist, generating storyboards and thumbnails for their animated series.
At Rooster Teeth, Al progressed to the role of 2D Storyboard Artist and then to 2D Storyboard and Environment Lead, collaborating with directors to communicate script ideas through storyboards and ensuring consistent quality and style.
From 2020 to 2022, Al served as a Senior Production Artist and Art Director at Rooster Teeth Animation Department, overseeing the creation of storyboards and managing collaborations with artists and creative supervisors.
Currently, Al is working at Roarty Digital Inc. as a 2D Lead Artist, guiding artists in the creation of character illustrations and texture designs while setting high standards for art generated for clients.
Throughout their career, Al has demonstrated strong artistic skills, time management, and the ability to work collaboratively in various creative roles.
Al McClelland, Jr. received their High School Diploma from Alamo Heights in 2006, where they focused on Art/Art Studies, General. Al then went on to Cleveland Institute of Art, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration in 2010. In addition to their academic achievements, they also obtained a Texas Food Handlers Certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services in June 2014.
