Derek Appleby is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in leading software development projects. Currently serving as a Lead Software Engineer at Royal London since January 2017, Derek is actively involved in Agile methodologies to enhance customer-facing and internal business processes. Prior to this role, Derek held various positions at Standard Life from June 2001 to December 2016, including Analyst Programmer and System Developer, where technical leadership in designing and supporting applications was a key focus, utilizing technologies such as C#, SQL Server, and Java. Earlier in Derek's career, from June 1993 to June 2001, a position as a Graduate Engineer at Scott Wilson was held, specializing in applied computing for civil engineering projects. Derek obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Structural Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, graduating in 1992.
