Eric Fu has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Eric began their career in 2015 as a Software Engineer Intern at Microsoft, where they worked on developing and maintaining the data processing pipeline for the Bing Ads system. In 2016, they joined Splunk as a Software Engineer, focusing on the DB Connect Team, which involved importing and exporting data between Splunk and RDBMS. Eric then moved to Alibaba Cloud in 2017 as a Staff Engineer, where they led the SQL Engine Team and played a key role in refactoring the SQL optimizer and executor to build HTAP capability. During their time at Alibaba Cloud, they also introduced a Cascades-style cost-based optimizer for join reordering and physical operator selection. Currently, Eric is working at RisingWave Labs as the Kernel Team Lead and Founding Engineer, leading the design and development of RisingWave, a streaming database with a PG-compatible SQL interface that allows users to define data sources, tables, and materialized views.

Eric Fu attended Nanjing University from 2012 to 2016, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science.
