Alex Suihkonen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different companies. They started their career as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, conducting molecular and cellular biology research. They then worked as a Tutor and Teaching Assistant at The College of St. Scholastica. Following that, they joined the University of Iowa as a Graduate Student, focusing on organic-synthetic research with an emphasis on carbohydrate chemistry.
After completing their education, Alex Suihkonen worked as a Lab Analyst II at Pace Analytical, supporting 3M Corporate Research Analytical Laboratory. They later joined Biothera as a Development Associate III, where they were part of the operational management team tasked with supplying drugs to clinical trials. They also developed a scale-down pilot process for a cancer immunotherapy drug and designed a new pilot-scale lab. Additionally, they supported business development efforts and performed various laboratory management tasks.
Subsequently, Alex Suihkonen joined Lifecore Biomedical as a Senior Development Associate, contributing to the development of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and combination products. They also served as a Scientist and later as a Sr. Process Engineer, where they played a key role in aseptic fill/finish activities, strategic planning, and supporting business growth.
Currently, Alex Suihkonen is working at Rion as the Associate Director of Process Development and has recently been promoted to the position of Director of Process Development.
Alex Suihkonen completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics at The College of St. Scholastica from 2006 to 2010. Following this, Alex pursued a Master of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Iowa from 2010 to 2012. In 2019, Alex enrolled in the Center for Professional Innovation and Excellence to obtain a certification in Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMCCP). Alex successfully completed the CMCCP program in September 2021.
