Jofree Duran is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Rio Tinto, leading the Geotechnical aspect for the Underground Mining Study Group since August 2021. Prior to this role, Jofree Duran worked at Wood as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, specializing in rock mechanics and underground mine design. From 2002 to 2019, Jofree Duran held several positions at Newmont Goldcorp Corporation, including Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert, Chief Geotechnical Engineer, and Chief Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Engineer, where responsibilities included directing stability designs and managing geotechnical guidelines for various mining facilities. Academically, Jofree Duran holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo and a Quick MBA Certificate in Business Administration from GERENS Escuela de Postgrado.
