Ted Julian

Venture Partner at Glasswing Ventures

Ted Julian is a well-known industry trailblazer and product leader in the security and compliance markets. He’s a serial successful entrepreneur and a repeat founder for Glasswing. Over the last two decades, Ted has ideated and launched multiple successful security startups and exits across software, hardware, and services. Prior to Flux, Ted served as SVP of Product at Devo, a cloud-native security analytics company. Previously, Ted co-founded Resilient, a former investment of Rick Grinnell’s, which was acquired by IBM for $135M—resulting in a 5.5x multiple for the Fund. Prior to that, Ted co-founded Arbor Networks (acq. Tektronix), and @stake (acq. Symantec). Ted got his start in tech as an industry analyst at International Data Corporation (IDC) and Forrester Research.

Resilient, a company aimed at helping organizations respond to attacks, was co-founded by Ted in 2011. As VP of Product Management, Ted spearheaded the pivot that would create and define a new market, which Gartner later termed Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR). After the acquisition by IBM, Ted continued to lead the organization’s Product team through this acquisition until 2020.

Before that, Ted spent 7 years as VP of Marketing at AppSecInc, which he joined as the 20th employee and stayed with through its acquisition by Trustwave. In this role Ted focused on company positioning and GTM, executing aggressively on strategy to establish AppSecInc as a market leader. He also worked closely with the CEO (Glasswing advisor Jack Hembrough) to raise multiple rounds of venture financing.

Most recently, Ted operated as the SVP of Product at Devo, a cybersecurity company that provides cloud-native logging and security analytics for organizations. This role found Ted in charge of product strategy and design, coordinating efforts between the engineering and sales needs of the company through its $250M Series E raise from TCV. Ted still serves on the company’s advisory board.
